Multiples?

My husband and I are doing IVF soon and we want to transfer 2 embryos(after 5 failed IUIS and being 32, it’s time to up the stakes). We will be doing a frozen transfer and told me that with a frozen transfer and PCOS, there’s a much higher chance of multiples, that it just takes better. So, he’s concerned about quadruplets, but will do it if it’s what we want. The other doctor I’ve seen didn’t even mention that, only twins. Has anyone been told this before or had more than twins with PCOS and IVF? Will will be doing ICSI and embryo glue as well. If that helps!

We transferred 2 after our first transfer resulted in a miscarriage. My wife is pregnant, levels have been great and doubling...sometimes tripling every two days. Tomorrow is our ultrasound to see how many are in there. We were told they didn’t prefer to transfer 2, not due to splitting (which is always a risk) but due to low birth weights, gestational diabetes, etc... We were met with a lot of pushback, but they finally agreed to implant two. We are hoping there are 2 beautiful babies growing in there but have prepared ourselves (as best we can) for the the possibility of more or less.

Do you ovulate regularly? I have PCOS and have never heard that increases my chances of multiples... as long as you’re having protected sex or not ovulating then I think a split embryo is rare and two split even more rare - but not impossible? I may be wrong but my doc isn’t against 2. I am only doing 1 though cuz I do not want twins. I’m a twin and it sucks

The risk for quads definitely goes up with 2 transferred.  You can transfer 2 and result in 0-4 live births at once. The ultimate decision comes to the clinic with transfer amount (I believe). But there is definitely a risk for splitting even with 1 transferred.

You haven't had failed ivf transfers so I'd recommend just one. My doctor will only do 1 unless you really twist his arm. I have heard of plenty of people transferring 2 and getting one, but also a lot who've gotten 2 or more. I would recommend weighing the health risks with being pregnant with multiples and see if you're willing to risk that

The new standard is 1 embryo for at least the first try if you are under 37. I wanted to do two soooo badly but my doctor was adamant that it was a bad idea and explained all of the risks of twins and shared some stories of very pre term twins. It’s scary. I basically decided having one for now would be a dream come true and now get greedy. My first transfer failed and my doctor said if my second fails, she will approve a double embryo transfer.
