Who is technically supposed to host a baby shower ? 
Your mom ? 
Mother-in-law ? 
Friend? 
Yourself ? 
Other ? Brother sister ? 
My mom usually host and plans my baby showers ? And I usually help ? But I’m afraid to ask my parents they are not in budget right now my dad recently lost his job and I feel bad for having them feel obligated to host a baby shower for me ?

Whoever offers. I don’t think there’s a rule. My mom passed 2 years ago so my best friend, her sister and their mom are throwing mine

My husband and I are throwing ours. I can’t wait on others. We also wanted to have a co-ed shower and we wanted it at our house (I’ll be 36 weeks). So, in order to have things the way we needed and wanted - we took the lead.

I’m from the south where *social rules* are everything 🙄 haha but down here, the pregnant woman nor her mother are supposed to throw a shower. Everyone else is totally fine to! So my sister and Aunt are throwing one for us and my mother in law is throwing another in her home town.

Traditionally, the pregnant one is not supposed to plan the shower, but someone else like mother, sister, or best friend or in-laws. But I’m helping my mother plan mine. I don’t think there is any rules against helping plan your own.

We are throwing our own shower with my mom as the face of it. I am very particular and need everything done a certain way so I took care of venue and decor and games - I refuse to open presents in front of everyone with over 50 people attending. It just takes too long and I lose interest. My moms still sent out the invites and is doing the guest list and greeting and all that but we want to pay for the venue since she bought us a $1500 travel system, about 200 pieces of clothing 0-18 months, pacifiers, blankets, etc....

I’m not having one, but if someone wants to have one for me that’s fine too. This is my 4th and last boy. My mom threw my 1st and second and my sisters threw my 3rd. 
I’ve also heard many people say you only have baby shower for your first baby. That’s crazy to me but to each her own!

Some of my co-workers are throwing a shower for me just for work people, but otherwise we're not doing a baby shower before baby is born. We will do a "meet and greet" July 13th at our house and just grill and have a fire! And then some ladies from my hometown church, 2.5 hours away, will throw another meet and greet so my family and friends from there don't have to drive!

I forgot to mention that my sister in law is also pregnant ? We are 5 weeks apart and of course my mother in law is throwing her a baby shower I feel bad for asking her to help my mom she works and has a lot on her plate
