My MIL is driving me CRAZY! I wouldn’t say we have a bad relationship, we just don’t really have one at all because she’s always annoyed the shit out of me. Before pregnancy (this is our first) I could tolerate the occasional visit.

The rift between us all began back at the time of our wedding at the end of 2016. Long story short, we had a very small wedding with only our two sets of parents. We both weren’t into the spending money on a huge wedding with a bunch of people and it was honestly the most perfect day for us just the way it was. Anyway, in the months leading up to our wedding she was incredibly mean and vocal about her distaste for our wedding plans. To the point of telling me my family is trashy for supporting our plans. She and his father wound up attending and after the fact, she raves about how wonderful it was 🙄. I’ve never received an apology for her behavior.

I honestly can forgive but I (and my husband) won’t forget.

This will be her first grandchild and I honestly do want her to be a big part of her life regardless of my personal feelings towards her. My husband can vouch for me that regardless of all the emotions and pregnancy hormones, I’ve honestly remained pretty level headed and not bitchy. When I see or talk to his mother I’m perfectly polite and nice but inside she makes me boil over in anger and annoyance. I swear she’s planned this baby’s first five years of life and she’s not even born yet. She overbearing AF and repeatedly says how when the baby comes we need to tell her if she’s being overbearing. My husband always updates her on how I’m doing in the pregnancy and all of a sudden in the few weeks she’s started texting me and asking about the baby. It seems to me like a last ditch effort to start some kind of relationship with me because she knows I’ll probably be the main authority for when she sees the baby. It’s like you’re about two years too late for that, Cheryl.

Haha I’m sure I’m way over reacting and over emotional but I had to vent. Thanks if you read this far 😂.
