boob pain

FTM here and I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow with no clear sign of labor in sight. so far all I have are period like cramping at night. and when I wake up and sometimes during the day my left boob/tip of the nipple hurts like crazy. almost like something is pulling on it. any tips for the nips? it doesn't seem chapped but should I apply some nipple cream anyway? should I try pumping? they've always been really big so it doesn't feel like engorgement or too full. I've only ever gotten a drop of colostrum from then so far when squeezed. what can I do for this pain?
