Let’s talk cats...

FTM here and I’m wondering how I should handle my cats. My oldest cat pretends to hate me but secretly loves me and I know she will hide the first few days baby is here and then will slowly get used to her. My little guy kitty is my shadow. He is constantly near me, always laying with me, and the minute I open the door to the nursery he is in there. I think he will be baby’s cuddle buddy as well. I give my cats free rein in my home. They are allowed to sleep with us go on the counters etc.

Few questions...

1) I’ve let them in the nursery already a few times but my little cat loves to try and get into the crib. Baby will nap with the door shut during the day so I’m not worried about him jumping in with her when she’s sleeping but should I try and train him not to go into the crib or just let it happen?

2) We have a bassinet for the first 6 months that will be next to me in bed. We do not and will not shut the door to our bedroom due to our only source of air is way in our living room and during the summer we need the door to be open otherwise it would be so extremely hot. Should I set the bassinet up within the next few weeks and try and train them to leave it alone or should I wait to set it up until the first time baby goes in it so they know it’s hers.
