How long did it take you to use the bathroom after birth and how did you do it if your tore badly?

I have a second degree perineal tear and I’m blue down there all the way to my butthole even though my butt hole isn’t swollen the area right above is. I’m taking stool softener but I am on hydrocodone as well and iron so I know I probably will be constipated. How long did it take you to go after labor? And if you tore like I did how was it and how did you go?

In Australia the midwives give you liquid laxatives in the post delivery suite. They're super diligent to make sure you poop while you're there over the three say period after birth. 😂 I am forever thankful for that.

It took me 4 to 5 days to finally be able to use  number #2

Second degree tear. I peed within 20 minutes of giving birth and pooped the next day. No stool softeners needed and it didn’t hurt at all. I was so scared because I heard a ton of horror stories about the first poop but mine was so easy.

I had a 3rd degree tear. I went hours after having my son I was also given stool softeners but they did NOT help. I was also told I couldn’t leave the hospital unless I had a bowel movement.

3 days, took me a while more out of fear then anything else, there was a little bit of discomfort I always thought would get worse if I kept trying too poo so I kept it in haha

I had constipation the day after I had my baby and when I went to poop I just burst open back all my tears...but hope your still softeners help

With my 1st it was horrible. I couldn't poop for a week even though in was on stool softners. It was like a golf ball but when it happened I felt like I gave birth again and it was such a relief when I finally went. I was so scared to go bc I tore super bad. My advice would be eat foods that will help with constipation maybe even try a laxative and just take your time don't rush or strain yourself
