NICU day 42 Hank update:
Okay here we are day 42, seems like it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions.
Ambrose Henry “Hank” has gone from an isolate to a bassinet back to an isolate and now we are back to a bassinet.
Isolate...
Bassinet...
Isolate....
And bassinet.
This time he has been in the bassinet about a week, so he is considered successful in holding his body temp!
Tomorrow he will be 36 weeks, which means about a month to go before his due date March 22nd. He is making great progress.
He started taking bottles over the weekend and was able to get his feeding tube out last night! Unfortunately I can’t go up this morning and have to wait for evening, because I have a sick kiddo...
Making it all worse I cannot produce enough milk to save my life. I get maybe 15mL each time and he is taking between 35-40 each feed. I feel like I am failing big time, and because I can’t get up to the hospital this morning, he has to take formula when they run out of breast milk.
It’s killing me mentally, but I am going to keep torturing myself every 2 hours to try and make enough for him.
It still looks like it will be a while before he can come home because of periodic destats. Trying hard to stay positive, but it’s emotionally deviating each time I pump and get near nothing.
He is now 3lbs 11oz.
