Glucose test?

All the posts I've been seeing about the glucose test say that they are usually 2 hours long and you have to fast beforehand. My doctor told me that mine will only be 1 hour and I don't have to fast before I come in. Does anyone elses doctors office do this? I'm afraid if I eat beforehand then it will throw off the test results. I'm going to try to avoid anything sugary and just eat some eggs and toast or something.

I ate beforehand and it was only an hour test. Never heard of it being two hours. I passed and everything came back great. I just didn’t eat anything sweet.

In the US it is most common to have a 1 hr non fasting test and then if you fail it you do a 3 hr fasting test. Some other countries do only 2 hr and a few US doctors do too.

My doctor days the first test is 1 hour and you dont have to fast. If you fail the test they make you do a 3 hour test and have to fast.

If you are able to eat before you take your glucose test, do it. I didn’t have time for breakfast before my test with my oldest, I just ate a little pack of goldfish crackers and I ended up getting so nauseous. I had peanut butter toast before my test with my second and I was fine. Eggs and toast is definitely a good breakfast for your glucose test day. Good luck!

The 2 and 3 hour tests are if you fail the 1 hour tests and different dictors do different new school no need to fast old school fast

With my last pregnancy, I ate scrambled eggs and a cheese stick before the test. It lasted an hour.

No carbs 1-2 prior, drink the grossness, and labs drawn at 1 hour.
My doc gave me the info and solution so I can do it at home and then just go get my
Blood draw.

You can eat before hand but try not to eat carbs as that adds to the glucose. Like no bread or cereal. Have eggs or something. Mine was in the morning so I just didn’t eat. They let me drink the juice at home and come in 30 mins later that way by the time I was called back, done with the usual pee in a cup, weight, and BP it was an hour after I finished my juice
