How are yeast infection treated (sorry if it’s a dumb question)

Sorry if these is a dumb question but I’ve never had a yeast infection and I went to the doctor for a check up on birth control and then a few days later they call and say I have a yeast infection. So they tell me about an over some counter medicine and when I go pick to buy I see that it’s suppose to be inserted vaginal and it it put cream and I’m EXTREMELY uncomfortable with this treatment, I am not sexually active and have never used a tampon before so I don’t like this treatment at all. I thought there were some oral medication that I could take but I’m not sure; I plan to call my doctor about a different treatment today but I would first want to know how all of y’all have treated yeast infection.

Also I have no symptoms of a yeast infection but the doctor took a swap and yeah they found out I have a yeast infection
