I had a regular trash can with a lid and a diaper genie. It does keep smell away muuuuch better. I empty it our three times a week. I use regular mint fragrance trash bags with it. It was a good purchase for us.

For me, I lived in an apartment then a condo and our dumpster was too far to walk every time my kids had a dirty diaper. The diaper genie only “smells” if you leave it in their for weeks, but they hold A LOT of newborn diapers. I found it helpful and worth it.

I have an ubbi and still use it for my 2.5 year old. It did start to stink maybe 1.5 years into it but only when you open it, plus we’re not good about keeping it clean. We’re getting a new one for the new baby.

I keep a small bathroom waste basket with a lid in the room and take it out daily or if it smells before then. This has worked well for the past two babies.

Me and my husband was thinking about getting one but everyone keeps telling us it’s not worth it because they stink. But in my opinion i won’t know until I try it.

I was just going to use a closed trash can for my first baby (she’s 2.5 now), but I got one for my baby shower and I’m so glad I did!! It doesn’t smell up the room, but it can smell when I open it sometimes. My toddler is potty trained and I’ll be using it for the new baby

I just bought mine with a gift card from my shower and I got the light pink one and I love it, no of course I haven’t had baby girl yet so haven’t used it but with my home the diaper genie is a must have!

It’s very convenient. Just make sure to get filters because your supposed to change them out every so often and to clean it every now and again.
