Health Information- Do you feel well informed?

SB 🍫

So this is just an umbrella topic but after recently delivering my fourth child and being a nurse I often am paranoid about health conditions or risks that could affect my babies. After some research I got into looking for Newborn Screening(NS) and realized that I have never been told how those results will be reported to me.

All fifty states perform NS that is then sent off to labs to test for specific health conditions. Results take 10-14 days to be sent to the pediatrician and then those results should be reported to the parents/caregivers. Though it may not be reported to parents if results are negative the website states to ask specifically for the results as some are missed. (Frightening)

Question- Either specifically regarding NS or other health information do you feel you are misinformed or ill informed regarding your health? Do you think this is due to patients not being outspoken regarding their health or concerns they may have? What might fix the gaps in healthcare delivery in your opinion?
