Toddler question?

Hi guys I have an important question.. my toddler is 4 years old and has been potty trained since about 1.5 now every since about a year ago she starts to have accidents almost 2-3 times a day and cannot stay dry even when we tell her to go. I have no clue to what else to do I have talked with the dr and the dr did a bladder test with a catheter but everything with that was fine. Now I think the dr want to do a physiological test and possibly give meds. Idk what to do . Is there anyone in the same boat?

I hate to be the one who thinks the worst but if this issue had a sudden onset after potty training was well established, this can be a sign of sexual abuse. I worked with a lady who went through this with her young daughter. I know it’s not something you want to hear and it may not be the answer in your case but the pediatrician is the one who told the mom that is what caused the issue for her daughter. The truth about what was happening came out first then the doctor connected the dots. I hope you find answers for your daughter!

My pediatrician said to have them go every 30-45 minutes. Sometimes when they hold it too much, like when they’re having fun and don’t want to go or in the car or something, their muscles weaken so then they can’t tell they have to go until it’s too late. Having her go every 30 minutes will strengthen the muscle and she can feel when she has to pee again. It worked for me!

I get kind of concerned when I hear about trying to medicate the child.  She's 4 years old!  What are they treating?
Honestly, this is most likely a behavioral issue that can be resolved with proper training and precautions.
1. Take her to the bathroom regularly.  At first every half hour or so.  As she gets better spread them out more.  
2. Provide positive reinforcement when she asks to use the bathroom, or when you notice her doing it on your own.  Sometimes simple acknowledgement will work.
3. Definitely don't punish, but you can make her clean her own messes, to some degree.  She can take off her dirty clothing and place them into the washing machine, or use a towel to clean the pee off the floor, or something like that.  Of course mind the age and the age-appropriate responsibilities, but making her a part of the clean-up allows you to assign responsibility to her for the mess.
In my line of work I see children medicated needlessly so often.  It's very sad, really.  I'd say almost half of the kids who come to me have meds they didn't need, but it was easier to placate them with the medication.  All of them were off, symptom free, and happy as a clam within a month or so of coming to my home.
So please be careful with the meds.  Most of the time for behavioral issues they are unnecessary.

I worked in day care and a Head Start, and it was quite common for kids this age to have accidents.. especially at nap time or play time when they are too busy and having too much fun to stop to use the bathroom. I would just try to remind her often to try to use the potty.
