In your OPINION, is 10 months too young for daycare? I wanted to emphasis opinion because I know there is no right answer

My son is 8 and never been to daycare. My husband and I believe that it is better for me to stay home and raise our kids than to have a stranger raise them. I trust very few people with my babies and there isn’t a daycare in our town that I would trust with them. At times he would work nights and I would work days or we would both work weird hours and never see each other. I was lucky enough to have a boss for a few years that let me take our son to the office with me and he would come to classes with me. It hasn’t always been easy but now my husband makes enough that I don’t have to work, but I also am a licensed therapist now so I can work from home if I want and schedule clients when I want to. We’re due with #2 in June and I will be home with her full time until she starts school and we want one more after her and will be home with that one as well. When they are all in school I will pick up more clients but will still only ever be part time so that I can be there for all of their class parties and special events and volunteering at their school and taking trips with them. For us those things are important so we will do anything to make it happen.

I’m a daycare teacher and the youngest one we have is 6 weeks. It’s never too late. Plus it allows your child to interact with others his/her own age. And many child tend to thrive when around another child the same age

From research perspective (I have a PhD in child development), it depends if the child will be more stimulated at home or daycare. Daycare provides great socialization and activities, which the child may or may not get at home. Or the vice versa, you may have a really enriched home environment compared to a daycare. Anywhere they aren't plonked in front of a screen is better for their cognitive development.

10 months was just perfect for my first. She didn’t cry once or even look back when I dropped her off. I have to put my second in daycare at 3 months and I’m super concerned/worried/upset but I have to go back to work 😭

I won’t be putting my baby in day care until he’s able to communicate in some way of something bad or wrong is going on at a day care I literally don’t trust anyone around my baby

No. My son had to start daycare at 3 months old because I had to return to work. I think before a year old is actually better than when they are older because he got used to it as a baby. My niece stayed at home with her mom all the time and when they tried to put her in preschool she was a nightmare (not her fault of course). I felt a lot of guilt having to put my son in so soon but I think if the positives...he’s super social and loves going to play with his friends and teachers!

I go back to work when my daughter is 4 months old, my mum is taking a month off to have her so she'll be starting daycare at 5 months old in the middle of flu season 😭

Mine started at 12 weeks. The first week adjusting was a struggle for us all but after that he’s done great.
