Mucus coming from the butt

So about a week ago I had the urge to go to the bathroom and every time some mucus would come out, sometimes without any stool. It cleared up within a night but now a week later its happening again. It comes on like diarrhea but consists of small amounts of mucus. I guess it can be normal but it doesn't seen like it is 😕
