Finding motivation

I’m 5 months PP and haven’t lost any weight. I had GD while pregnant and monitored just by diet. I did great. But as soon as I had DD I ate all the foods I couldn’t have while pregnant.

I think part of the problem is I never seem to be full. I can eat a whole meal and not feel full. I’ll have a snack and just want more.

I want to lose about 40 lbs. I just can’t seem to start. I’m so tired with being up at night with DD, everyone has been sick but me so I’m taking care of her, our son, and hubby.

How do I start? I think once I’m in the right path I’ll be ok, but how do I get there?

Thank you for reading and any advice from your own journeys is welcome.

I totally feel you on the exhaustion of motherhood! But you need to take care of yourself too in order to do your best with everyone else. And I’m sorry about the GD while pregnant, that must have bee tough! Personally, what worked for me were home workouts (I use a subscription) and accountability partners/groups. Once you have the right resources and get started you’ll find your routine. And every stage my son went through meant adapting when I would work out: sometimes before he woke up, during nap time, or while he was awake and watching me. I can definitely offer you more tips to get started if you want to chat!

Hello. Unfortunately it just takes being strong willed and consistent rather than motivation. It’s not easy at all but you just have to stick with it to get results. I find it helps me if I’m not too restrictive. I’ll still let myself eat quite a lot as I get really hungry too but I’ll try to pick more fruit as a snack or add more vegetables and whole grains to my plate rather than eating unhealthy things. Trying to focus on what’s good in food and keep your plate balanced rather than just looking at the calories helps too. Try to find some healthier meals and snacks that you enjoy. I also find having a small serving of something I enjoy (like a slice of pizza) with some plain salad or vegetables on the rest of the plate helps as then I’ve had something I like. There might be some obvious small changes you can make as well, depending on what your currently eat like reducing/cutting out alcohol, stopping sugary drinks or not snacking on sweets. Switching to some plant based meals might also help as they tend to be lower in fat and cooking as much food as possible at home rather than eating ready made products will make a difference. Best of luck :) x

Planning your weekly meals is also pretty essential x

It's so hard to get on the right path, especially when you are so hungry! Try to plan your meals in advance for a week. Make sure they are healthy, low on carbs and high in veggies. And force yourself to stick to that menu. You may need to get rid of all junk food and snacks too - or finish them off now but dont buy any more. It will take at least 3 days for you to stop craving more food. It's like an addiction and the 3rd day will be the hardest but you have to get through it.When i cut out wheat from my diet (done it a few times when i know better and should never eat it) i alwaya know i have to get through those first 3 days. Once i do it's so much easier but that third day can be rough.Good luck!

I’m 3 months PP and was the same way! I ate everything. I could eat like 6 tacos in one sitting! Lol anyways I’m day 4 of using my fitness pal and weighing all my food through the app. It’s tough because I’m breastfeeding but I’ve limited myself to 1,650 calories a day and I’ve lost 5 pounds already! My supply seems okay as well. I’m eating healthier like substituting lettuce for bread and having higher protein. I still eat sour cream and creamer with my coffee, I just weigh it out and put it in the app to see how much I actually eat.

I’m in this exact place. I didn’t have GD but I’ve had thrush since giving birth and so I’m constantly watching my sugar intake. Aside from never feeling full I CRAVE sugar so now every few weeks I binge. All I can wear is sweat pants and huge t shirts bc i can’t fit into any of my clothes. I feel so ugly but I have no energy to do anything.
