Itchy itchy cat
Hunnie has been scratching since we got her. Her first mommy got rid of her fleas. We gave her another bath and got rid of the last of whatever could be in her fur. For a while she stopped scratching. But she always over grooms herself. She'll groom all day long. Our other cat doesnt do that.
A few days ago i noticed she keeps scratching one spot. I woke up one morning to greet her and i got a handful of bloody fur. She had dug a damn hole in her neck overnight! So we ordered a cone to stop her.
I've put A+D ointment on the wound to get a nice scab on it. I tale the cone off to let it breathe and let her eat easier. She took the opportunity to scratch part of the scab off. The next time she decided to groom her crusty fur, i let her since she cant reach the spot. She groomed 2 new raw patches in the time it took me to freshen her water and food! I do the A+D ointment 3 times a day and give her an oatmeal bath treatment to sooth the spots. Nothing seems to help. She's still itchy. I even tried benadryl and she wouldnt let me give it to her. It took 3 of us to give it and she only took half of the liquid.
Her bitch ass vet said its normal and ordered a bunch of shit that made me go broke. A CAT DIGGING A HOLE IN HER NECK IS NOT NORMAL! Id also like to mention she started digging like crazy when we took her to the vet. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with what they gave her. She got stuff for ear mites a Rabies shot and worm stuff.
First day
Second day
Happy and normal before the cone (lol F my nice bed. Id rather lay on an old mattress)
Drooling after the benadryl. She tried her best to spit it out.
Shes upset with me.. anyone got suggestions?
TL;DR My 7 month old kitten keeps scratching her neck raw. Nothing is working. Vet is not helping. Dont know what to do.
