Formula?
Hey Mamas! Hope everyone is enjoying their newborn snuggles or preparing for your little!
Baby #2 was born on February 13th and latched beautifully in the hospital! Everything was going great but her bilirubin levels elevated a little before we left the hospital. To calm my anxiety I decided to pump and bottle feed to make sure she was getting enough. Unfortunately she decided she prefers the bottle more than the boob. I don’t blame her....less work! She will latch but it takes a lot of effort on both of our parts. Usually ends in us both crying.
I exclusively pumped for 9 months for my son (18 months old) so I know the work and dedication it takes to do that. This time around I just don’t think I can do it with 2 under 2. The mom guilt is strong right now. It definitely makes me sad she won’t get breastmilk for a year like her brother but I know I will be better mom not attached to a pump and/or worrying about her latching 8x a day. Not to mention keeping an 18 month old occupied for those feedings 😬
Which brings me to the question, what formula do you use for newborns? I never supplemented with my son so I have ZER0 idea on which brand/type to use. Has anyone switched their 2 week old to formula. Should I mix it? I have already built up a stockpile so far so I will definitely give her all the milk I have before switching.
I am going to pump until her 2 week check up and speak with our pediatrician but figured I’d ask here!
