My period sent me to the ER

Krissi

Long story short cuz I still feel like garbage. So yesterday morning (2/21)I was at work and I wasn't feeling too good. Suddenly I had severe period cramps I was pale, I started to shake, I was cramping over, I couldn't steady myself to walk straight, I almost passed out and I was crying from the pain. It was the worse pain I've had in a very long time; and it kept getting worse. My work decided to send me to the ER to make sure nothing bad is gonna happen. They gave me an IV and some medicine. They did a UA test to make sure I wasn't pregnant (because I was a week late) and they also checked to see of I had miscarried. Thankful I was not pregnant and didn't miscarry. But they did find a UTI. They did an ultrasound on my kidneys, uterus, and through the vaginal canal.

One of my ovaries had twisted up inside of me. They gave me some medicine and told me to come back if it happens again. So far I'm ok, I just feel exhausted and sick, also feels like my ovaries are sore. I called in to work today (and I feel awful because I love my job) but I need to feel better before I go back. Hopefully this awful period can pass soon, its definitely very uncomfortable and painful.

UPDATE: I followed up with my OBGYN and they looked at the ultrasounds and said everything looks okay and I need to be better at taking my birth control pills. But he was a man so he doesn't know what I felt so screw him. But they LADY at the hospital said if it happens again I might have to get my ovaries either removed or untangled depending on how severely tangled it is.

I called into work today because I feel like my ovaries are bruised. I was nauseous this morning and my stomach hurt; and my body is still SK exhausted from all the pain. The hospital put me on naproxin and sulfamethoxazole for the pain and the UTI. They said if it happens again come back as soon as possible, because a twisted ovarie is going to cut off blood flow. I'm just trying to feel better so I can work tomorrow.
