Pill 4 hours late

I took one of my pills 4 hours late and I realized I forgot to take it because I went to the bathroom and had really dark maybe even brownish discharge. I also had unprotected sex probably a week ago or so. Just some spotting from taking the pill late? It’s just odd because I’ve been on the pill for years and never have had any spotting that I can remember.
