Progesterone shots?

Dr said we will start weekly progesterone shots next month in the 2nd trimester to delivery due to preterm labor history. No one has ever suggested this before- this will be baby 5 and had issues with all of them. Anyone else? What should I expect?

I had the shots before and it wasnt bad. I would get it on my butt and the nurse would switch sides each week. I hope that isn’t tmi.

I also have them every day bc of IVF. They’re not the most pleasant, but once a week you’ll be fine.

I had my first baby at 33 weeks so with my second we did the progesterone injections weekly and I made it to 36 weeks with my son thank goodness!! And this time with my 3rd I am sure we will be doing it again! It is pretty thick so it has to be injected slowly. It is a tender spot getting it in the love handles but you just adjust to it and just tell yourself why your getting the shot in the first place just another thing us Mother’s endure for the well-being of our babies. Every single day counts that they stay put until it’s time. Good luck !!

I had them for my first full term labor due to a mid term miscarriage my first pregnancy. I took them from 16-38 weeks but opted out of week 37&38 because I was over being pregnant and the baby was measuring 2 weeks ahead. I ended up being induced a few days later and giving birth to a perfectly healthy baby girl. The shots can be painful but they’re worth it for piece of mind.

I’m on them now actually, due to ivf and will hopefully be stopping them in a few weeks.
Will you be doing them daily? I currently do 1ml every morning and my lower back kills. They call them butt shots, but it’s really your lower back, where your (well where mine) “lovehandles” are.

I will have to have progesterone shots starting at 14 weeks. I had my son early in 2017 at 24 weeks. I've never had them tho so I dont know what to expect either.

Thank you ladies! Another question- did you notice increased breast tenderness with the injections? I have insufficient glandular tissue so with all 4 babies so far havent been able to bf long because I couldn't produce a full supply. I'm praying that the extra progesterone will make a difference there too!
