Working long shifts with fibromyalgia?
I just got hired about a week ago at a new job. I didn’t officially start until Wednesday, and I’ve worked a 9 hour shift every day since then (3 days.) I’m 18, I was diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia at 16. This isn’t my first job, but I quit my first because I wanted to focus on school.
I’ve had 3 before this job, though.
My legs are swollen and at work, we don’t get breaks. I work at a fast food place, and I’m new there, like I said. Today I was stuck doing 3 peoples job because they were on their phones and chit-chatting. Now, 5 hours after my shift, this is what my legs look like.
As you can see, my ankle isn’t even really visible (I guess it kinda looks like cankles, but it usually is nowhere near this.)
I also have knots around my ankles that are like swollen lumps and are extremely painful when I put pressure on my legs. I can hardly walk around my house.
I’ve tried so many things and the swelling WILL NOT GO DOWN.
My mom also has Fibro and told me that this can happen, especially considering I work 9 hours with no break whatsoever.
Is it something I should worry about?
And yes, I’m aware that I’m using my legs a bit more since I’m working now and wasn’t before, but even at previous jobs it hasn’t been this bad.
Also.. with me doing 3 peoples jobs, what can I do about that? My managers are honestly kinda trashy and lazy and they don’t do very much to help out around the store. They lollygag.
