Baby shower host

This is my first baby and nobody has offered to throw me a shower.  I tried to hint at my best friend by throwing out a time frame but she said she didn't know if she could make it cause it was her sister in law's bday around that time.  This hurt me.  Unfortunately my mom passed almost six years ago and my sister has a cognitive disability.  My aunt and cousin live far away.  I'm feeling pretty sad about it, I figured one of my friends would offer, I don't really have much family.  My husbands family lives on the other side of the country.  Is it rude for me to ask a friend?  I don't really want to do it all myself.  My husband sweetly offered to do it.  Darn pregnancy hormones are getting the best of me.  Thanks.
