I went to my 39 week appt on Thursday and when my doctor heard her heartbeat it was too fast so she sent me to the hospital for an NST. Everything was great when the midwife came in after the 20 min and then she kept me on the monitor so she could just see a little more just in case. Then as soon as she left, baby’s heart rate decelled way too low for 2 min and they decided to induce.

They started me on cervidil at 5 pm that night bc I was hardly 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. The contractions started around 8 but I couldn’t feel them, which really surprised the nurse bc they were regular and at about a 50 at the peak. Then they checked me at 5am next morning when they took out the cervidil and I was 4cm 90% effaced. They took me to the delivery room and started me on pitocin bc my contractions slowed down a little. I contracted on my own for quite a while, maybe til 3pm. I got IV pain medicine as soon as we got in the room as well. Then the contractions got unbearable at 3. My plan was to not get an epidural and to try to power through on my own but I couldn’t take it anymore so I got the epidural. It was an INSTANT relief and I went from screaming and crying in pain to laughing and then sleeping bc I was so relieved. They checked me and said I was at a 7 so I did pretty good beating without the epidural!! They decided to break my water then too and that helped things get going. Took a little bit of a nap and then I woke up feeling like I had to poop around 5. I told the nurse and she told the midwife and they checked me... 10cm and 100% effaced!!! 🥳 but the poop feeling was really me pooping a little bit during every single contraction 😅 they had me do a few practice pushes to see if that did anything bc it could still be a while if she wasn’t positioned yet. Didn’t do anything, so they had me wait 30 min. I told them about 15 min in it felt really bad like I had to poop and they all came in and I started pushing. She was face up at first but then she turned herself. I got to watch it in the mirror and it was so crazy to see!! I didn’t push for long at all, maybe 6-7 contractions. And then she was out!!! I only had a 1st degree tear and it was horizontal so it went into my labia kind of. The cord was wrapped around her neck 1 time but it didn’t affect anything. She was then born at 6:33pm weighing 7lbs 4.4oz and 20 1/4 in long. She latched on my boob perfectly maybe 10 min after she was born and I was so shocked!! Here are pics ♥️
