Vitex for missing period

I haven't had a period since April, mainly due to stress. I also had my last depo shot in December of 2013 and stopped the pill in August of 2014. Anyway Ive read some about vitex and how it can help regulate periods. Has it helped anyone get their period back after not having it for awhile? If you've taken it what was your experience?
