Lotion after bath?

Did you start using lotion right away? Son will be two weeks in a couple days. Want to give him a bath (ford finally fell off) but I don’t want him to dry out. Is lotion safe even this young?

We don’t use lotion. Our pediatrician and midwife recommended bathing 2-3 times a week and not using lotion. Their skin will start producing oils in a couple of weeks and the lotion isn’t necessary. We didn’t use lotion on my first either and she has great skin.

I used a bit of baby oil in the bath water. Seemed to work better than lotion when we were dealing with cradle cap

Yes I have been using lotion since I started baths. I’ve never heard it’s unsafe.

We use it just on his legs and arms where his skin seems to be dry.

His doctor said I could use lotion daily. As long as it doesnt bother him in any way, she wasn't worried
