Long story short I had a very conservative strict mother. She never ever took to the gyno for regular checkups just to check things out or teach me about sex or periods, uti or whatever growing up. Shes a nurse so her excuse was she would “teach me” or she knew what I needed or didnt need to knoa, which was all bullshit. she wanted to “protect me” by leaving me in the dark so I wouldnt have sex. I would try to tell her that my periods were bad and that birth control could help it and she just told me to take the pain and take tylenol. I know, she’s nuts, but thats a whole another story for my therapist.

So now I am 21 and I have to make my first appt. I am 12 days late, Ive had slight sore boobs and some cramping and I fear that I might be pregnant. Although, i took like 5 or 6 tests on different days in the morning and they have all said negative. But im still extremely worried. Do you think I might be?

And can somebody explain how the gyno’s work? Im still new at making any kind of doc appt in general. If I make an appt and end up having to pay for things would it show up for her to find out if I use insurance? Or would it be safer if I just paid all cash? Is it expensive?

And I know I am of age that I should have the right to do things because its my body and I am old enough, but I sadly still live at home and Im under her insurance. My relationship is already bad as it is enough. If someone can help id appreciate it thanks.
