Primrose oil?

Is primrose oil safe after 38 weeks pregnant? What does it even do? My mom gave me a bottle and said I need to start taking it at 38 weeks if I want a smooth delivery 😂

My ob told me there’s no proof it’ll help but it’s supposed to soften your cervix . She said wait until 37 weeks to start it and only do 500mg a day vaginally. (I think women poke a hole in the pill and insert that )

Supposedly evening primrose oil helps soften the cervix. It will only work if your body is ready. There is nothing to say it is harmful or works. Some women it works for others it doesn’t.

I started vaginally at 35 weeks on and off. And now I am 37 weeks exactly and 75% effaced. Not sure if it's just my body that is doing the work or if the evening primrose it doing it, but for a ftm and being 37 weeks, I'll take it!
