Unexpected (Long Post)
I never post in our group. I enjoyed taking advice and seeing all the experiences that everyone was having here but my sweet girl had to come at 35 wks and 5 days due to unexpected complications that were unfound until around 33 weeks pregnant. So I thought I would share with you all a little since my March due date quickly became a “She needs to be delivered as soon as possible” February delivery.
At my 32 week growth ultrasound my doctors office noticed that my daughter was measuring small. She was in a low percentile for growth and was weighing/measuring 2 weeks behind. My fluid was at a low normal. It was suggested that I just drink lots more fluid and get rest and also return to the doctor weekly at this point to keep any eye on the fluid. Working a full time job made resting hard but I was managing as her health is my main priority. The following week I returned for my weekly that included a bpp ultrasound and a visit with my (many) doctors. (The practice I go to has a few and you have to rotate through them all). Baby girl was doing great as far as practicing breathing, movement, and staying head down. But the growth restriction was the worry. So this particular week when I saw a different NP, she ran some tests that she thought were needed just to rule out some reasoning for the IUGR. Fast forward to Monday from a Thursday and I now need to be seen twice weekly until delivery that was not mentioned to me until the office called to confirm that I would be attending my appointment that day. I was then in panic mode because I was unaware of a lot of things that no one felt to need to mention to me. To shorten the story, I tested positive for CMV(cytomegalovirus). Which was thought to be the cause of the restricted growth. I was scheduled to see a specialist at that to time and when I finally got in to see the specialist, my fluid had dropped from an 8 to a 5 in 3 days and I was direct admitted from the specialist office to the hospital that I didn’t even plan to deliver at due to the NICU and resources available here versus my previous choice. On 2/21, I was admitted and administered steroid shots to help develop her lungs for delivery. I started induction the night of the 22 and delivered my sweet girl on 2/23 at 10:40pm. She is the most perfect precious gift from the Lord and my husband and I are beyond blessed and so in love❤️ She is doing amazing with everything, we just have to wait until her tests come back letting us know if she tests positive for CMV as it can effect her differently than an adult. I work in a LTC facility where I most likely contracted the virus while pregnant. So my March girl quickly became a February girl but I couldn’t have asked for a better hospital team and such wonderful care providers here. I pray all of you have a safe delivery. I just wanted to share my story with you all before I stopped following since my busy mamma journey has began earlier than expected. 🙏🏻 God bless all of you beautiful mammas and I pray you enjoy your little blessings as much as I do mine. She truly is a beautiful ray of sunshine that I can’t imagine my life without 💗☀️
