Homemade baby foods?

Question

I stopped buying store bought baby food when I opened one full of mold that wasn’t expired for a few months still. What were some home made recipes you did for your 6-9 month olds?

I made lots of different purées for my first baby. I did the usual... bananas, sweet potato’s, peas, pears, peaches, apples, etc. But I also did avocados, eggplant, zucchini, and butternut squash. I would mix in cereal for some of them. I also mixed different fruits together. I made big batches and froze the rest in portions. Avocados are a great first food and healthy!
With my second daughter, I mostly did baby lead weaning and she would get what we were eating for the most part. She always loved feeding herself even with a spoon. I’ll probably do the same with my son. I’ll start him off with some homemade purées and then start BLW.

I'm doing BLW with my second. With my first, I did homemade purees at six months and switched to blw at seven months. I just used a food processor, blended them up, and put them in ice cube trays to freeze for later. Right before feeding, I'd thaw them. For some of the thicker things, I added breastmilk to help it blend better. Anything that needed to be cooked first, I'd normally just boil. I never added anything besides breastmilk to his foods.

There are so many different food ideas for purees and beyond. My daughter loved them & I felt like she got to try many new foods. I made all of her purees in batches, then put them into molds in the freezer, & defrosted them when I needed them. It was so much cheaper than buying pre-made baby food.

I use a good processor and mix together all kinds of fruits and veggies. Like I’ll do bananas with sweet potatoes / squash with pears. I’ll just mix and match different things. I used pretty much apples, bananas, squash, eggplant, zucchini, parsnip, sweet potato, carrots, avocado ( only my last daughter liked the avocado) usually by mixing different things you’ll learn what your baby likes the most.

Anything basically as long as you use a blender...mix it with their milk or water when you blend: i got a toddler recipe book that gave me good ideas; things that I would never think about mixing: fruits with chicken :)

I started with fruits and later introduced veggies. I started with banana, apples, pears. Then started introduced carrots, sweet potatoes and squash (she hated). After I found out which she liked and didnt have an allergic reaction to I began mixing them. I would make a large batch and freeze them in ice cube trays with lids. A total life saver along with time and money. It's so much cheaper to make than buy. Also if you look online there are lots of places that tell you how to cook and give you recipes.

Please be careful as a lot of foods are naturally very high in salt which can be dangerous for young children
