Does anyone know when they stated testing for “spinal muscular atrophy” on the first trimester genetic testing

I had a baby in 2018 and was fine, unsure what they actually tested for. My sister is currently pregnant and she is a carrier. She had a baby in 2015 and they did not test for that at that point.

The nipt doesn't test for that. She'd have to do a chorionic villus sampling between 10-14 weeks or wait until the second trimester to do an amnio.

Ok, I’ll ask my sis was a carrier and I’m unsure if she tested for it. I have two healthy kids but idk, I may rethink having more if my kids are at risk for sma. My sister didn’t know she test for that gene so maybe she did with me.

I had a two part blood screen for that. No amnio or CVS.  So I guess it depends on the type of testing you had done. 🤷🏼‍♀️
