Generally, yes. The basic rule of thumb is: no news is good news. I’ve only ever had a doctor call me with results if they were concerning.

I would call them depending on how long you’ve been waiting. They generally call and at least leave a message if it’s good results and if they are calling with not so good results they’ll call
To inform you and just say to call them back to discuss your results and schedule a follow up. I had an abnormal pap and have to have a redo in June because they didn’t collect enough cells somehow for the hpv test and they found abnormal verbal cells. They didn’t call until a month after that pap and my first one was completely normal.

Not always. My mom had a hysteroscopy done in October because her gyno found a polyp in her uterus. They said they would send it to the lab and call her in a week. Well, 2 weeks went by and she didn’t hear from them and it was because her doctor didn’t want to tell her over the phone that she had endometrial cancer.

My Dr does not call if all is normal

Usually if my doctor runs tests & they’re negative they won’t call me in. If it’s something that came back positive or abnormal they’ll call me in.
