Strange Period

So I’ve been on the pill for over a year now and this situation has happened twice now. So I always get my period on a Tuesday and last week I was supposed to get my period it never came. I’m always taking my pill on time and I’ve never missed a day. Thursday I got brown discharge and that lasted till Friday but I never got a real period. What does this mean?
