Preconception check up?

Who is/has done this? Is it absolutely necessary? Or can I just make An appointment w my obgyn after we conceive?

I didn't have one. My gynecologist was terrible and very rough the first time I went. I live in a small town so there isn't much choice, and I still felt pretty emotionally upset from the last one about two years ago. Now that I am pregnant I get to see an OB that I love! My doctor never seemed to have any problems with me not going.

I was going to make an appointment if I had another month where I wasn't able to get pregnant, but all systems were go :)

I had one and I feel like it is important. Like a previous poster, mine was at my yearly when I knew we would be TTC soon. She took vaccine titers to make sure I was okay and up to date on vaccinations, gave advice, and answered all my questions. I feel it was well worth it.

Okay thanks! I had my yearly physical back in January, and was still on bc. I did see my PCD about 2 months ago and I told her we were going to start trying relatively soon, but that's about it. So....maybe I'll just set up an appt just incase. Honestly, my PCD does my physicals also. But I need to find an obgyn!

Your decision. I scheduled my annual (with both my OBGYN and PCD) about a month before my hubbs and I wanted to TTC, and communicated my thoughts and concerns.

From what I've read from websites, it is recommended. But I'm sure lots of women don't. I don't plan on having one.
