Give your best food money saving advice
I noticed a post on someone wanting to save money on food because money is extremely low at the moment and having a teen son and a pregnant daughter.
Here are some of my tips.
- Cut out all juice. Buy canned frozen juice if you can't live without it.
- Substitute fresh veggies for frozen a lot. Not altogether but one meal a day or so.
- lentils are cheap and high in folate and protein.
- baked beans are about $0.89 a can and can be a whole meal if money is super tight.
- Cut meat out. Maybe just eat it once a week.
- pay grocery bills with cash. Apparently you save $1000-2000 per year by the psychology.
- coupon. Use them! You can save $500 or you can save a few thousand.
- stockpile when something you regularly use is on sale. This method could make you have cupboards full of half priced groceries.
- cook extra dinner for lunches the next day.
- shopping with a list can save you $2000 or so per year.
