High TSH.
Today I learned that my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is 10.76 mcIU/mL. which is extremely high. Having a TSH this high puts me at higher risk of miscarriage, loss of pregnancy in second half of pregnancy, premature delivery, cesarean section and large infant. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was 13 years old (I’m now 31 and pregnant with my first child) and was told that if I were to ever become pregnant that I would be considered high risk, but I never thought much of it because through medication it was always controlled. My last blood test was in was in September and my TSH then was only slightly elevated. I’m 5 weeks pregnant today and I’m freaking out learning this. I went to the doctor today because I was having some tinnitus. I requested a thyroid and pregnancy blood tests just to see my levels now that I’m pregnant. My tests came back online, so I haven’t even been able to speak to my doctor about the results. Has anyone else had thyroid problem during pregnancy? Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
