Question

Family members never acknowledged my baby's birth or the fact that baby exists and now baby is getting close to a year old. These family members now all of a sudden want to see baby and want me to drop everything I'm doing and travel (which is quite a ways away) to them (they won't come to me yet they are perfectly capable and have been invited to do so). Is their sudden interest weird? Not sure what to do....

Not uncommon, but unacceptable. If they really want to be a part of the childs life they will come to the child.

I would tell them to screw off. They obviously didnt care enough to acknowledge her when she was smaller so why should they care now? sorry to be so blunt but thats what I would say if it was me. Good luck!

I'd be upset.. If my family really wanted to be part of my baby's life they would have done so by being there when she was born to begin with  💁

I would just tell them you cannot travel but they are more than welcome to come to you

If they're good people suck it up, go
out there, and give the family a second chance for your child's sake.
