Really Enjoying these Last Few Appointments!
So, I had my 38 week appointment this morning & it was just the normal BP reading, stomach measurement (baby dropped this past week 🙌🏻), heart rate, etc.
My husband is military, so I am seen at a clinic for most appointments, unless we are doing an official scan, etc. They also do not check for dilation until around 39 weeks, so I have not been checked yet, but I honestly kind of like not knowing if I’m dilated/effaced. You can stay at the same point for weeks, right? So what’s the point in me stressing about it?! Plus, I kind of like the mystery of it all. 🤗
They don’t normally do ultrasounds (other than the very first one you have) at the clinic, but the nurse said she just wanted to peek at baby this morning, so I got to see his little face as a surprise (well, his chubby cheek.. that’s all that we could see at this point because he’s lowered himself down 😂). She said everything looks great (heart rate, fluid, etc.) & that she’s happy with my weight gain (I’ve stayed at the 30 pounds recommended!! 🙌🏻). And she’s estimating he’s around 7.5 pounds at this point. If he stays put for a couple more weeks, we’re probably gonna have a chunky babe on our hands. 😬
She said if he hasn’t made his arrival by 40 weeks, we will have a chat about induction, if I’m interested in it. I might feel differently at that point, but right now, I’m thinking I’ll let him cook as long as possible. I’ve been blessed with a relatively easy pregnancy, so I don’t see any need to rush things. The difference of a few days could make a huge difference to baby, but it won’t affect me in the long run. He’ll come when he’s ready. 🤷🏻♀️
Anyways, long pointless post, but I’m actually really enjoying my weekly appointments at this point. It’ll be a little bittersweet when this is all over. ❤️
