Sports while pregnant?

Is it safe for me to play softball for my highschool team while pregnant in my first trimester?

So far all of my docs have said that exercise is perfectly fine during pregnancy unless you've been put on bed rest. They say not to ramp up ypur exercise, keep it at the same level and stop doing abdominal exercises. My antenatal nurse on Saturday literally said to me women can play netball and other sports throughout their pregnancies so have at it! Bubs in the first trimester is also super cozy and well protected so no need to stress about copping a ball to the tummy yet.

When I was in high school we had to have physicals to play. I remember being asked if I was pregnant or a chance I was pregnant. I would definitely say consult your doctor and it would probably be beneficial to let your coach know. If something were to happen during practice or a game they would know your situation and your medical treatment could be accordingly. My dad is a collegiate softball coach and when his assistant coach was pregnant he rarely let her on the field in any place that she could be hit by a ball. You also run the risk while batting of getting hit by a ball and based on the position you play you might be diving for balls which is probably not in your best interest. Your school (or high school athletic association) may not be ok with you playing either.
