Too “royal”??

We have a son named Henry and my MIL would really like our next child (if it’s a boy) to be named after her father. I actually like the name BUT it’s William. Is that too close to the royal family? We don’t call out Henry “Harry” and it would be a reversed order but still...

I think it’s not up to your MIL what the baby’s name is. Maybe use it as a middle name?

I don’t think anyone will think of that honestly. Those are both popular names. If they had very distinctive names it would be different.

The royal family doesn’t rule the world. Most people don’t even consider them. Those names are very basic, common names. It’s not unheard of to have multiple families with similar names like that. That being said, name your kids what you want, not what your MIL wants, unless you agree.
