When you want to check, just wash your hands and squat down with your back straight, if you hunch over it might be more difficult because the vagina curves pushing it up more. You can also do it in the shower, use your longest finger and feel up there, if you can’t find it or feel anything other than the ridges of your vagina, than it’s high, you might have to move your finger side to side because it does at times tilt a little either to the left or right. 
The drawing indicates what to feel for, it’ll either feel soft like your lips(soft) or a apple(hard), don’t put your finger in the hole just kinda swipe it and pull out, whatever mucus is happening it’ll come out on your finger. 
The real finger photo is to show you that your cervix is legit the only thing in there and if you reach far enough you’ll find it. 
The finger indicates the high medium low, if you push your fingers all the way to the top knuckle it’s high, middle knuckle is med. and bottom knuckle is low doesn’t need to be exact. 
When charting for ovulation remember SHOW-Soft, High, Open, Wet, that’s a indication that ovulation is either happening or it’s close. Usually within a day it goes back to hard after ovulation.

I’m 29 with 2 kids and sadly still can’t figure that out lol 😂 I’ve googled it. Had people explain in detail and everything and STILL can’t find my cervix 🤦🏼‍♀️ lol
