What does your 8 month old eat?

My son is not a big eater and I'm worried he is not getting the nutrition he needs. He eats around 30oz of formula a day but will only eat one pouch of baby food a day. He eats a little bit of oatmeal in the morning but only a few spoon fulls. Should I be worried?

Food before 1 year is only to help them adjust to textures and tastes. Everything they need should be coming from their breastmilk or formula still :)

Give him actual food. There's no reason for pouches of pureed baby foods. I wouldn't eat that crap either. We began solids at 6 months and our daughter has always eaten what we eat. But solids aren't replacing formula or breastmilk right now either way. So he's just fine nutritionally-speaking.

Babies stomachs aren’t always ready to digest food that is adults eat. Baby food isn’t “crap”. It’s puréed fruit and vegetables. I wouldn’t ever feed my child adult food before 12 months. You’re suppose to feed an infant the same food for a few days in a row to see how they do with it. But to each their own. If it works for you that’s great. To the originally poster, babies are ready for food at different ages and stages! If they don’t like the purée , I’d try a different flavour or wait until their showing more interest in new foods. Breast milk or formula is their main food source anyway!

They should be getting all their nutrients from formula or breast milk until the age of one... so I wouldn’t worry! 😊

I have 4 kids. 2 of them were eager eaters, 2 weren't. One just didn't like baby food and didn't eat much solids until we introduced soft table foods, she'd gag at first but once she learned how to mash and swallow (around 9 or 10 months) she was eating table foods regularly. Just keep trying, but if baby is still taking formula then there's enough as far as nutrition at 8 months.
