How can I help relieve my daughters cough!?

My daughter (who is 2) unfortunately caught a cold and now, when she lays down for her nap or bedtime, she starts coughing on and off for at least 20/30 minutes. I put kids vicks vapor rub but that doesn't seem to be helping. Any other remedies I can try?

I've heard pineapple juice works really well for cough.

I tried the vapor rub on the feet tonight since that's all that was available for now. 
I think it might have helped a little. She still coughed when I laid her down but, not as bad as her nap today and the night before!

Vapor rub on the bottom of their feet and put socks on. Works every time. My lg gets really bad coughs alot and that eases her when going to bed x

Fresh pineapple and local honey can help, if you go fir a natural remedy. My daughter had a cold and got a bad ear infection. They recommend zyrtec to break up the flem.

My son has asthma and was often kept up coughing as a toddler. Pedi suggested warm apple juice. It would soothe his throat long enough for him to fall asleep.

If we have cough issues during sleep time, we give a dose of ibuprofen before bed.
It does seem to help. Plus getting back on track with sleep helps even more.

Apparently crushed ginger under a dressing on their chest is supposed to work. I've not tried it yet though.
