Dropped phone on baby
My husband was in bed next to the baby while I changed the laundry. All of a sudden I heard my baby start to scream. Apparently my husband had been reaching over him to put his phone down, but the phone slipped from his hand and landed on the baby’s face. It clearly hurt a lot and my husband was guilty and heartbroken. When I went to take him, I noticed blood on his sleeve. After a frantic once over, we saw that his lip was split on the inside. It looks like the phone must have struck him there, right under the nose, and it hit hard enough to split his lip. It’s very swollen now, and he keeps crying. I feel terrible for my poor boy. I gave him Tylenol, but he’s only three months, so too young for ibuprofen, which would be better for the swelling. Since the swollen area is his upper lip, I couldn’t figure out a good way to ice the area. Part of me wants to be mad at my husband, but he clearly feels absolutely horrible. He’s beating himself up about it. I just feel awful for my boy. I nursed him, and he fell asleep, but he keeps whimpering and take shuddering breaths. It kills me that he’s hurting and I can’t fix it.
