How much is too much?

Question

Is it possible to overfeed a 3 week old? She is currently breastfeeding every 3 hours for no less than 30 min and then takes a bottle of pumped BM or formula. She is averaging 15-18oz a day... is this normal?

My four week old is formula fed and averages 24-28 oz a day. I agree with getting with a lactation consultant to make sure she’s transferring milk

My 18 day old drinks 20 to 22oz a day

Might be worth checking to see if she’s actually transferring milk while nursing. A lactation consultant could help with that.

We just went to the ped today for our 2 week checkup and I asked the same question. My 2 week old can easily down 3 oz I’d pumped breastmilk. Our doctor said if the baby isn’t spitting/throwing up then you’re good. Take breaks and burp in between.

My pediatrician just old me that my 10 day should be drinking 24oz a day, he says 20oz is too little they will lose weight and 30 is too high because they will gain too much weight, my LO drinks right around 24 a day and is on exact weight gaining rate!

Is she spitting up any of the milk? If not, it should be ok.

My baby is 2 weeks old and takes about 2 1/2 to 3 oz every 3 hours. I’m not sure but that does sound like a lot! Is she hungry for it every time? Like does she give you cues or do you wake her up and feed her?
