Anyone here go from black to red hair? How did it turn out?

My hair is naturally black in the winter and then in the summer it lightens to a dark brown. I get this random natural caramel streak, so stupid me dyed my hair black because I had somewhere to go.

But before I finish school and get my BIG BIG BIG girl job, I want to do something fun with my hair. I’ve always wanted to do all red. I know it fades fast. I’ve had red before just not all over.

I will be going to a salon to get it done. I just want to hear some experiences of going from black to red and any tips for keeping it vibrant :)
