Scheduling Membrane Sweeps?

I didn't know this was a thing. Someone educate me. I just assume let nature do its thing. Why mess with it unless there's a problem?

I don’t want to be induced. So if a membrane sweep can help move things along, why not? It’s better than Pitocin 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t know, but my doctor told me today that she’d be happy to start “sweeping the shit out of my membranes” next week. Haha. I just mentioned not wanting to go past 41 weeks because they have said baby is potentially pretty large. 😬

I am being offered it at my apt Monday and declining. I hear it's painful and half the time doesn't work so you are just in pain and uncomfortable for no reason

I will be doing it starting next week to try and kick start labour naturally and avoid being induced... baby is measuring big soil cant let nature do its thing lol

It can be a natural way to get things going if needed.  Certainly don’t have to if all is good.  I had it done when my first son was 10 days over due and i was over it (didnt work).  Having it done monday (39+6) with this one if i dont go on my own first, mainly because i am attempting vbac and if i dont go naturally by 41 weeks i may need csection as induction with meds is contraindicated for vbac.  So would rather try that than another surgery.
