Breastfeeding at 12 months, irregular period, and opks
Hello! I am currently breastfeeding my 12 month old. My period returned between 9-10 months. I’ve experienced two periods with a 38 day cycle being the last. I am currently on cycle day 58 with no period in sight and I’m aware prolactin produced during breastfeeding can make things irregular. We wanted to start TTC as soon as my cycles returned because our first took us 4 years to conceive (male infertility). The first two cycles I was routinely using opks, but this cycle I have not routinely because, let’s be real, its a 58 day cycle so far (that would be a ridiculous amount of testing). I’m pretty in tune to my body considering so many years of ttc, so on cycle day 55 I started noticing EWCM and took an opk which was positive. That evening I started experiencing mild constant cramping. By cycle day 56, the cramping was more intense, so I took another opk and it was even darker than the day before. We BD’ed this day just in case. I’ve been periodically using cheap Amazon pregnancy tests, but question their reliability. I guess my question is, has anyone experienced this prior or maybe already been pregnant and an opk detect it before a HPT? I have just felt off since around the time I initially took the opk, like maybe I was experiencing implantation cramping, not necessarily ovulation. I could probably solve this by getting a better quality HPT, but I’d rather not jump the gun and be disappointed and wait two more weeks for either AF or BFP.
