Do y’all count spotting as part of a period? Let’s say I spot for a day, have a heavy flow for 3 days, and spot on the fourth day. Do I count that as 5 day period or 3? I want to make sure I’m logging right for so I can be sure for ovulation. Pls help!!

They say if you need a pantiliner then count spotting, if it’s only when you wipe, don’t count it.

If I'm not mistaken,  spotting is not associated with menses. That would be classified (and charted) as LIGHT. Not spotting. Spotting occurs outside of the menstrual cycle for charting purposes. This doesnt seem to be overly obvious when charting using these apps

Since I began as a teen, mine has always been heavy 4days, disappear on day five, and return (like “ Just kidding, still here!) for the last day on day 6. I count 6 days. Sorry I know that’s completely different. I did recently have a Hysteroscopy and bled (spotty 2 days, then light) for 4 days, and the Dr said it was a period.

I always count day 1 as when I get my spotting. 
I generally have a day of spotting, then 2-3 days of proper medium flow, and then one day of spotting. I would generally class my period as lasting 4-5 days.
