So I’m slightly late with my birth story, but life has been way more busy since baby girls arrival. Ok so this pregnancy was great for me besides the fact the i did it all alone. I literally worked my entire pregnancy until my water broke.

12/31/2018 (my birthday) i wake up at 6am as usual to get ready for work. I wasn’t feeling so great and i actually ended up vomiting, once i was done i stood up and had the biggest gush of fluids come out of me. This is my third child so i know what it feels like for my water to break. Even though i knew my water broke i still did a color test and smell test to make sure. It was completely colorless and had no odor. At the time i was 35wks 6days, i called my doctor and she advised me to go ahead to the hospital to get checked out. I went to the hospital and they preformed 2 different test to see if my water broke. Well they said that both test came back negative, and at this point i was frustrated because i know for a fact my water broke. I made them do an ultrasound to check my fluid levels and my fluid was a 14. I stayed at the hospital the whole day having contractions but i wasn’t dilating past 2cm, so they sent me home and told me to limit my activity.

For the next few days i was having horrible contractions on and off, and i kept feeling like my fluid was slowly leaking out.

1/5/2019 i was having contractions every 5mins so i make a trip to the hospital and they preformed the same test to see if my water broke and once again it comes back negative. They then preformed another ultrasound to check my fluids and they were at a 7!!! At this point I’m ready to fight the staff at the hospital because how did my water not break when my fluid just cut in half I’m only 6 days. They checked my cervix and I’m only 2 1/2 cm dilated. So they end up sending me home once again.

I had an appointment scheduled for 1/9 with my doctor but something inside of me just didn’t sit right. So i called my doctor Monday and got an appointment for that day.

1/7/2019 i had an appointment for 2:30. I showed up and my doctor checked my cervix, i was 3 1/2 cm dilated. I then expressed to her my concerns for the baby’s safety. She did an in office ultrasound and confirmed that my fluid decreased from 7 to 3 in only two days. She told me to prepare myself for having to have an emergency c-section if the baby didn’t come with the next 24 hours. She then told me to go to the hospital to get admitted since my fluid levels were so low it was dangerous for both the baby and i so i would have to be induced.

I arrived at the hospital around 4:00 and they took me to my room to get me hooked up to my IV and out of nowhere, i pass out. I don’t know why i passed out, i just know i woke up with 6 nurse standing over me. Once i came back and was able to talk they inserted a pill on my cervix to help thin it and hopefully help me dilate. The pill did soften my cervix but did not make me dilate. At 9:00 pm they started me on the devil juice, pitocin 😂. I was doing great and wasn’t really phased buy it for a while. I sat on a birthing ball and swayed while rolling my hips from side to side. I did this for a few hours. My mom came up around 10:30pm with my oldest son who is 6, but she skipped dinner so i told her to leave and get some food because i expected it to be a long night. She left and my son sat in the room with me. Well around 11:45 i started having some really intense contractions, i was still able to breathe through them just not as easy. I asked my nurse if she could fill the tub for me to get in to help with my contractions. It took 30mins for the tub to fill up, it was huge!

1/8/19 (37wks 1day) it is now midnight and I’m still waiting on the tub to fill, around 12:15am the tub was finally full. Before i got in she wanted to check my cervix, i was 4cm. She told me before i got in that if i felt like i need to push then i had to get out immediately. So i was in the tub for all of 90 seconds and immediately knew i had to push. I pulled the emergency cord and the entire nurse staff had to come get me out the tub. Now my mom still hadn’t made it back to the hospital yet and at this point I’m no longer breathing through the pain, I’m SCREAMING. All while my son is watching everything. The nurse took my phone and called my mom and told her to get back now because the baby is coming. I get back in the bed and they check me and I’m 9cm. I went from 4cm to 9cm in literally 2 minutes. The whole time I’m trying to remember everything that i studied about natural birth and giving in with what my body wants to do. I knew i needed to push but they said i wasn’t 10cm yet and i needed to wait, well guess what, there was no waiting...THIS BABY WANTED OUT. So my mom literally walked in 2 mins before the baby came out. My first push some liquid squirted out like a scene off of AVP..in the back of my mind i was feeling bad that my son had to see all of it, but hey it was nothing i could do. So my second push i just bossed through it and didn’t stop pushing and she was out. The placenta was delivered shortly after and they checked me and told me i was all good and didn’t need stitches.

My daughter was born at 12:47am and weighed only 5pds 13oz. Despite her being born a little early, she was completely healthy.

Having my daughter naturally did two things for me. I not only felt empowered as a women with knowing that i can do whatever i put my mind to, but i also felt great after having her. Nothing like what i felt after having epidurals with my boys. It was a complete night and day difference
