Baby announcements, yes or no?

Question

I mentioned to my husband about maybe doing baby announcements after our son is born and he thinks they're a waste of money. I get where he's coming from, but wouldn't it be nice to send those out to people we don't see a lot, especially since we can obviously put a picture of the baby on it and everything? And if you do send them out, when exactly do you do that? Within the first month of his birth? 
Just curious as to other people's thoughts and what others have done. 😊

I was thinking the same thing, I have not posted a full announcement about our baby, and we are only have 2 showers and that not every one is invited to. I was thinking sending out an announcement would be a great way to include family friends we don’t see often. I just don’t want people to think we are asking for stuff.

There’s only a few good things people receive in the mail these days and I think a birth announcement is a good one. There’s so many places you can order them to cut cost and use coupon codes! It’s a keepsake too!

You can make them pretty cheap if you catch a sale at Walgreens.com

We sent them out with my first and plan to do it again this time. We make our own online through Walgreens. They always have coupons online for about 50% off (sometimes more), so they aren’t terribly pricy. We sent ours out about 3 weeks after our first son was born because that was when we got around to it. My husband thought it was silly too, but he also doesn’t ever want to send Christmas cards. 🤷🏻‍♀️ lol

At my hospital there is a photographer who comes and takes pictures of baby after you give birth and you can buy the photos or not. We bought a huge package for $500, and in the package were the birth announcements. I think they are super cute!

We didn't with our first, but I've thought about getting at least one made and sending it framed to my uncle as baby will have his first name as a middle name. But my first has my father in law's middle as a middle and we didn't do one, so I feel bad like I'm playing favorites lol. My uncle just got so excited and was SO honored that we wanted to give baby his name, that I think it would be sweet.

Worth it for you since you want to. I won’t bother. That’s the last thing I think I’ll want to be doing post partum.
